Who We Are

Built on a decade of
systemic change.

CEMETS Global is a non-profit foundation based in Zurich, Switzerland, building on over a decade of work from the Chair of Education Systems at ETH Zurich.

We work with governments, industry, and education leaders to design and implement reforms that align education systems with labor market needs. We do not just deliver reforms from the outside — we co-create them with local actors, building the capacity to lead and sustain change.

Our work spans more than 30 countries across Europe, Central Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the United States. In each context, we focus on strengthening local capacity so that systems can continuously adapt, improve, and deliver results long after our involvement ends.

Why We Do It

Education systems are struggling to keep pace.

Skills Mismatch

Graduates often lack relevant skills while employers face growing talent shortages — a systemic gap with significant economic and social costs.

AI & Digital Disruption

Artificial intelligence and digital transformation are rapidly reshaping economies. Education systems are struggling to keep pace.

Systemic Misalignment

The gap between education and labor markets requires stronger collaboration and a renewed focus on practice-oriented learning, including VET.

CEMETS Global exists to support countries in building education systems that are responsive, inclusive, and aligned with real-world needs.

Mission

“Co-creating sustainable, evidence-based education systems that use systemic, long-term perspectives to align learning with global labor market needs.”

Vision

“Effective education systems that work for all learners, employers, and societies.”

How We Do It

A systemic, evidence-based approach.

We accompany partners throughout the process — from understanding challenges to implementation and continuous improvement — through three integrated elements. This ensures that reforms are not only designed, but implemented, owned, and sustained by local actors.

🔬

Research

We diagnose system challenges and guide decision-making. Research serves as a tool for stakeholder alignment — creating shared understanding through workshops, events, and joint analysis.

🏗️

Reform Labs

We build the capacity of leaders while developing concrete solutions. Reform Labs bring together policymakers, educators, and industry to co-create actionable reforms.

🤝

Backstopping

We support implementation and translate evidence into policy action. We accompany partners from identifying challenges to continuous improvement — long after our involvement ends.

The Cycle

Research → Translation → Impact

Our integrated approach creates a continuous loop from evidence generation through to real-world policy implementation, ensuring lasting systemic change.
